It’s almost my birthday, so thought I’d jot down some lessons learned while living through my 30’s (and 20’s, too)
Mid thirties are proving to be a little more tough of a pill to swallow than early thirties. I don’t know, it just feels old. I know it’s not… maybe lol
I thought why not embrace it and write up a list of lessons learned instead of thinking about feeling old. Here they are. I hope you can relate with some. I’d love to know which ones- email me! [email protected]
- TIME, value it the most
- Trust in God, always
- Move your body, stretch, get outside
- Pray all day everyday
- Define what success looks like for you even if it’s different from the norm and get after it
- Boundaries!!! (set them but also respect that others have them too)
- Work smarter not harder but always have the best work ethic you can
- Things will always change, set core values so you can roll with the punches
- Failure is not a negative- it means you tried and it didn’t work out
- Don’t let opinions of others cloud your vision
- Always give it all you’ve got, but know when to walk away if needed
- Say I love you
- Take the family photos
- Take good care of your good relationships
- Enjoy the present moment, even if it’s not exactly what you want, it won’t last long
- There are two sides to every story- do your research and make your own conclusion
- Take moments to visualize how you want to see your future then stay on paths that will lead you there / get off ones that won’t lead you there
- God’s plan and timing is always better than ours
- Sometimes you have to accept that ‘it is what it is’ and carry on
- Look for ones with a good heart and when you find them hold on tight
- No one is going to do things just as you would / like – be open
- Don’t rush things but be aware that time isn’t on your side
- Make smart purchases that benefit your plan, not your ego
- FOMO is real but don’t let it dictate what you do (it’s ok to miss out)
- Be good with being by yourself
- Learn your strengths/not strengths and use that knowledge
- Don’t let your “title” define you, you’re more than that
- Go after what you want, no one is going to do it for you
- Take the risk (smartly, after doing some planning)
- Don’t over glamorize – reality isn’t glamorous
- Faith over feeling
- Be open to opportunities, but choose wisely
- Ask for help- burnout will get you
- Test it out- you never know until you know
- You will mess up (a lot), learn from it and make adjustments accordingly
- Don’t be afraid to ask also don’t fear a “no” response
- Learn that multitasking isn’t really a thing- pick one thing, do it right, get it done and move on
- Just breathe and enjoy the ride
Wonder what I’ll learn in my late 30’s?! If you have any life lessons please share with me!
